Halloween Water Marble Nails

I AM SUPER EXCITED FOR HALLOWEEN ! Considering that, I was way too anxious to wait till late September to get started with Halloween Prepping. I just could not wait any longer. I just had to do some practice designs. Tonight I wanted to try different water marbles for Halloween.

Here are 5 designs of mine. The 6th one being the mummy, and I got the design for that one from Colette, http://mysimplelittlepleasures.blogspot.com/. I just thought it was the cutest thing. Anyways, I added the fimo to a few of them, for future reference. That is not where the fimo will actually be placed if and when I do these designs. Just putting that out there, I know it looks silly. My next set of designs will be ones I paint. Now is a good time to follow my blog. (:

NOTD: Velvet Nails

The faux velvet nails seem to be catching on quickly. The look is definitely unique. & I, myself, have come to love it ! To get that velvet look you need some flocking powder, which you can buy at your local craft store.

Here is what mine look like

I used 'Wet N' Wild - Blazed' as a base color, and 'Recollections - Carrot' flocking powder.

Practice Nails: (Velvet, Fimo, Jelly Sandwich)

I felt like doing some practice nails tonight. & I ended up doing three recent nail trends, that I already love ! Those three trends are the flocking powder, fimo, and jelly sandwich nails.

1. (Jelly Sandwich Nails)
I myself am new to this one. But basically what you do is pick out a sheer polish and a glitter polish. Then you paint your nails a couple coats of your sheer polish, after that dries you add a coat of glitter (or two, or three, up to you), and after the glitter dries you add one more thin coat of your sheer polish. Since the sheer polish is sheer, when you layer it over the glitter you will still be able to see the glitter. It's a really cool affect, that I cannot wait to try on my own nails. Here is what my practice nail turned out.
I used 'Sinful Colors - Irish Green' as the sheer base polish, and 'Funky Fingers - Confetti' as the glitter.

2. Velvet Nails
Velvet nails are nails that have that soft fuzzy look to them. It is very simple to achieve this look. You will need to go purchase some flocking powder for this. I bought a pack of 6 jars for $7 at Michael's craft store. I decided to use yellow for the practice nail, because yellow is my least favorite of the six colors. LOL. Anyways, the first thing you need to do is pick which flocking powder color you want to use, then pick a nail polish to match it. (DOES NOT HAVE TO BE AN EXACT MATCH) Then, you paint a couple coats of the polish onto your nails. Now, this next step can be done two different ways. The first way is to apply a third coat of the polish and then add the flocking powder. The second way is to apply a coat of topcoat and then add the powder. I myself used the first way for this nail. So apply either another layer of polish, or a layer of top coat. Then, using tweezers, or your fingers, pick up some flocking powder, and sprinkle it onto your nail. (I recommend the sprinkling w/ your fingers or tweezers because if you dont you get those big unwanted clumps on your nails). Once your nail is covered, lightly brush off the excess powder. Then the last step is to lightly press down on the remaining powder. & that's it, NO TOPCOAT ! Here is how my practice nail turned out.
I used 'Sinful Colors - Pull Over' as the base color.

3. Fimo Nails
I had done dream catcher nails a while back. & the day after I was looknig at my fimo, and came across my feather fimo, and I immediately thought 'I could have used these as my dream catcher feathers'. So, I decided to try that out and see how I'd like it (for next time). To apply fimo, you first cut some slices from your fimo cane. Add some top coat, or nail glue, to the spot you want the fimo. Then, you simply place it there, and press it down gently. Then when you're done, add a thick layer of topcoat. Here is how my practice nail turned out.
I used 'Sinful Colors - Pink Forever' as the base, a silver striper for the dream catcher, and 'Sinful Colors - Amethyst' for the dots. (I also added a purple rhinestone to the center)

I stopped in Five Below today & just had to get some of their Funky Fingers polishes !
 I only bought three, since they're 3 for $5.
 1. Mermaid Lagoon - Blue glitter polish, with purple glitter circles, and silver holographic hexagons.
 2. Confetti - Clear base, with multi-color hexagons
3. Like Clockwork - Bright orange/yellow ! Kind of like cheese !

Nicole by O.P.I. at Five Below !

I did a bit of shopping today, and decided to stop in Five Below to check out their polish ! I quickly noticed they had some Nicole By OPI polishes for $4 ! That's half the regular price ! I did not actually get any, but I seen them, and thought I'd share ! I know they had that heart polish (the last one in the picture). Not certain of what other colors I didn't want to look at them too long, I'd be tempted to buy them ! (:

Blue Tag on Tumblr ?

This is a post of my most recent design on Tumblr. If you noticed the first tag is highlighted blue. I am not entirely certain of what the blue tag means, but I think it means your post is a featured post ? If that is the case, this is my first one. & I wanted to save it. (:

NOTD: Newspaper Comic Nails !

I've been wanting to try this for a long time, and finally got to ! I chose Garfield, and only added him to my ring finger and thumb !

Step 1: Paint the nails you want to add the comic to white.
Step 2: While that dries pick which comic you want to use, and cut it out ! (see below for what shape i cut mine)
Step 3: If you are not doing all of your nails with the comics, now is a great time to do your nail art on those fingers. You want to make sure the white is good and dry. So use time to paint the others.
Step 4: When the white polish is a dry as dry can be, get some alcohol, pour it into something that you can dip into easily.
Step 5: Dip the comic piece into the alcohol for 15-20 seconds, then pull it out, position it, and place on your nail.
Step 6: once it's on your nail, press it down firmly, be careful not to smear it.
Step 7: Pull of the comic paper & VOILA !

Solution for Those Pesky Nameless L.A. Colors Bottles !

All you need is a pen, and a pack of circle sticker labels (which are very cheap) !
I'm using these ^ because this was what I already had laying around. White is definitely better !
 Here's my nameless L.A. Colors polishes !!
I suggest you write the name of the sticker before you put it on. I did not do that with 'Aqua Crystals' & just look at it ! LOL
 Here's two more !
& the last one. You like that crazy jacked up lightning bolt I did, don't you (;

Rite Aid's Clearance Polishes !

Okay guys, I have a good one for you now ! For the past, maybe 5, months my Rite Aid has had a clearance basket (which is now 2 baskets). Every so often they add new items to it. I have purchased a lot of polishes from those clearance bins. Although, there are a few I've purchased recently that are still in the clearance at my Rite Aid ! Right now, as we speak, they have L.A. Girls Disco Diva & Fruity Scented collections, which are $3 regular price, marked down to $1.50. They also have the Magnetique brand magnetic polishes, regularly $5, marked down to $2.50. Also in the basket is Wet N Wild's neon crackles, marked down to 2.50. As of right now this is all the polishes that are on clearance at Rite Aid. They constantly add new ! So go check out your local Rite Aid !

Great Polish Deals at the Dollar Tree !

Over the past few months I've acquired several Sally Hansen polishes from the Dollar Tree. Including polishes from the Xtreme Wear, Diamond Strength, Maximum Growth, and Insta-Dri lines. Since these were purchased from the Dollar Tree, they were all $1 !!! All of these cost me $7, which retail price would've been around about $30-$35 ! GREAT DEAL ! So head out to your local Dollar Tree & see what you can find !

Wet N Wild Fergie Polishes

I only have two of them, but I know before I received these it was a bit difficult to find swatches. So I thought I'd share my two Fergie's. I have Hollywood Walk of Fame & Fergalicious. Just a quick note, Fergalicious is very sheer, I highly recommend using a white base. (for this swatch I applied 4 coats!) But for sharing purposes I did not do that. It looks way better with the white base, since it's a neon !

Great Deal on Revlon Polishes !

I found Revlon polish double packs at Big Lots, for $2 a piece. That’s two in a pack for $2. Which is a dollar a piece ! So I paid $6 for these six Revlon polishes. These were NOT on sale, this is their price at Big Lots ALL THE TIME !!! :D
